Infection & Immunology

If your child suffers from recurring infections, they may be the result of an immune disorder – a lack of something in your child’s immune system. Immune disorders reduce your child’s ability to fight infection. Allergies, food allergies, eczema and asthma are examples of immune disorders.

We care for children of all ages with both common and rare immune disorders. We care for children affected by:
  • severe infections, both acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term)
  • unusual infections
  • frequent infections
  • tropical infections
  • new or epidemic infections
  • problems of their immune system.

Infection prevention and control is also an important part of our work, as is promoting the appropriate and responsible use of antibiotics and other antimicrobial medicines.
